  1. Mix milk and mayonnaise until the mixture is smooth and consistent.

  2. Crack one whole egg into the bowl.

  3. From the second egg, separate the yolk and add the egg whites to the bowl.

  4. Combine the milky mayonnaise mixture with the eggs.

  5. Preheat your oven to 180°C–200°C.

Find a small cup, such as an espresso cup, and use it to make a hole in one slice of bread. If you don’t have a cup, you can also do this with a knife. The cup method is just quicker.

  1. Soak your bread in the milky mixture from Step 1, allowing each side to soak for about a minute.

  2. Place your frying pan on the heat and add a bit of oil.

  3. While the pan is heating up, grate your cheese, but remember to keep an eye on the bread so it doesn’t become overly soaked.

Fry the soaked bread for approximately one minute on each side, or until it starts to turn golden brown.

  1. Place your soaked bread on an oven-proof dish or tray, sandwiching the salami between the slices of bread.

  2. Drop the yolk into the cut-out hole in the bread.

  3. If you have any remaining mixture from Step 1, pour it over the top of the bread.

  5. Then, place the bread in the preheated oven.
