    Ayam pop is a chicken-based dish from the Province of West Sumatera. Ayam pop is one form of fried chicken dish, but what distinguishes ayam pop from fried chicken in general is that ayam pop has a pale white color when it is finished cooking. This is because before being fried, the seasoned pop chicken is first boiled in a stew of coconut water and minced garlic. After that, the chicken is just fried briefly in hot oil so that it is fully cooked and gets a little crunchy texture. Chicken pop is usually served accompanied by tomato samba lado (chili sauce) and boiled cassava leaves.
